THE OX GAWD STORY

Chef André Williams

Chef André Williams

Ox Gawd is the embodiment of Chef André's culinary journey—rooted in fire, shaped by heritage, and perfected through a lifelong pursuit of unforgettable flavor.

That journey began in 1992, in Spanish Town, Jamaica—cooking alongside his Great Aunt Chixie. Over open flames and well-worn pots, he learned not just how to cook, but how to cook with purpose. Together, they would prepare meals not only for family, but for neighbors and members of the community—feeding anyone who showed up with warmth and generosity. It was there he developed a deep respect for patience, technique, and bold, unapologetic flavor, along with the understanding that food is as much about people as it is about taste. Those early lessons became the foundation of his philosophy—one he carried forward when he began catering professionally in 2003, building a career grounded in discipline, consistency, and passion.

Over the past two decades, one dish has defined that path: Ox Gawd's Signature Oxtail. Slow-cooked and refined over years of mastery, it became more than a dish—it became a standard. The name Ox Gawd was born from that experience, representing the elevation of West Indian cuisine through precision and fire.

Through global travel and collaboration with fellow chefs and culinary creatives, Chef André continues to evolve his craft—layering new techniques and influences into a style that seamlessly blends West Indian tradition with Southern depth. His approach is driven by live fire, intention, and respect for the ingredients.

Meticulous in every detail, Ox Gawd partners with local farms to source only the freshest ingredients—no shortcuts, no compromises. From origin to execution, every element is deliberate.

From intimate gatherings to weddings, celebrity clientele, and Fortune 500 partnerships, Ox Gawd delivers more than cuisine—it delivers presence, energy, and a fully immersive experience.

What Guides Us

Our Convictions

01

Seasonal Integrity

We only cook what the land offers. No forced imports, no hothouse shortcuts. Each menu is a snapshot of the current season.

02

Radical Locality

Every protein, every vegetable, every grain comes from within a 50-mile radius. We know our farmers by name.

03

Zero-Waste Kitchen

From root to leaf, nose to tail — nothing is discarded. What one dish doesn't use, the next course celebrates.

04

Gathering as Art

We believe the table is sacred ground. The way food is shared matters as much as how it's cooked.
